Sharing books

We enjoy sharing books in many different ways. Looking at the pictures and finding the same in our own book.

Taking the lead at story time. This one is called 'The Giraffe's Got Eaten by Hippo'

When we discover a favourite story that's all we want to listen to and it becomes a main interest. Look at the next blog post for the opportunities that evolved from 'Tyrannosaurus Drip' by Julia Donaldson

Under construction......

Can you guess what it is?

You guessed it, it's the Sydney Opera House.

We have decided that when building in the sand that we need signs to let everyone know its a building site. This one says 'Danger don't enter my construction'
Busy builders at work. This is a farm building.

A lot of work went into this balance building.

"I used the big square for my house an little one for my bedroom window"

"Oh no there's no room for my house roof" I moved onto two boards.

Mash Potato

We had a wide range of veg in our autumn shop, which was open for two weeks (before we turned it into a Firestation). There were squashes and pumpkins, multi-coloured carrots, potatoes, corn and much more. We explored vegetables in so many different ways - by weighing them, painting them and using them as props for an impromptu farm scene.

And one day one of our peers said "can we make mash with this potato?". And so we set to work picking out the green ones "yucky yuck potatoes" and planning what we needed.

The adults helped us along the way by showing us how to use utensils and holding our potatoes when "it keeps slipping and sliding"

We carefully chopped the potato.

"I'm gonna plop that potato in there!"

We took a timer outside and played a few rounds of hide and seek whilst the potatoes boiled.
"Watch out here come the mashy machine"

Everybody tried some and there were suggestions of making chips next time. Watch this space to see what other culinary delights come from the kitchen over at Northrepps Primary School...

The Gruffalo

One of our favourite stories is the The Gruffalo. Corallie Murray our Co-chair of Governors came to share it with us and also brought along Mouse.

Is just so happened that The Playhouse theatre in Norwich were showing it, so we joined up with Little Brown Hare Pre-School and set on a Gruffalo adventure to the theatre, along with Corallie.

We got the seats ready on the bus.

And off we went!

We ate lunch together before the show and found our seats.

It's about to start. Come on Gruffalo. Where are you hiding?

Much fun was had by all, so much so that some of us had a snooze on the way back home. We can't wait for our next adventure with Little Brown Hare.
